Sustainability is becoming a major focus for consumers and retailers. Taipak has been continuously developing environmentally friendly products to meet variety of different packaging applications for the expanding green market. At the same time of being eco-friendly and keep our environment healthy, Taipak also commits to provide barrier, protective, and attractive packaging solutions to our customers. Taipak is pleased to launch our innovative biodegradable product line. We have various materials that are compostable, heat sealable, and also provide different barrier levels at the same time.

PLA, polylactic acid or polylactide, is biodegradable thermoplastic polyester delivered from renewable corn starches and sugarcanes. Taipak provides one layer heat sealable PLA bags and films for non-barrier required and shelf stable products. PLA can be surface printed and used as the primary packages. It can also be laminated with kraft and cotton paper as the sealant layer.

We also have one layer and multi-layer barrier films for oxygen and moisture sensitive food products such as confectionaries, spices, and pet treats. This barrier film is made from renewable wood-pulp sourced from managed plantations. It is certified to both EU (EN13432) and American (ASTM D6400) composting norms suitable for both industrial and home composting situations and anaerobic digestion. With higher sealing strength compare to other degradable materials, this barrier film can also be used for heavy duty bags for fertilizers, seeds, and pet foods.
